27 projects will receive co-financing from the Latvia–Lithuania Programme

27 new projects submitted within the second Call for Proposals are approved for funding in the framework of the Latvia–Lithuania Programme requesting about EUR 8,7 million co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The final allocated amount may change as all projects are approved under conditions and will need to clarify the project activities and budget.

Decision on project approval was made by The Joint Monitoring and Steering Committee of the Programme at its third meeting in Jelgava (Latvia) on 24-25 September.  Representatives from Latvia and Lithuania made decisions on 70 project applications which have been received during the second Call for Proposals under two thematic groups:  joint projects facilitating business, labour market, research and technology development; development of active and sustainable communities.

44 institutions from Latvia and 42 from Lithuania will be involved in the implementation of approved projects. New cultural festivals and activities will be offered for local inhabitants and visitors, joint researches will be carried out in the fields like support for business development, fruits growing and birds protection. Business and lifelong learning infrastructure will be improved in the regions. Project descriptions can be found below:
